Celebrating the Club’s 20th Anniversary at the Annual Picnic

Thanks to our founder, Kit Wiegman, and a group of dedicated members, the Sierra Nevada Canoe and Kayak Club continues to attract new members after 20 years since its founding in 2003. A big thanks to all who started this group of people who love recreating together!

Susan Rossman, Diana Abrell, Chris Crain, Robin Hart, Chuck Hart, Lani Brunmeier, Colleen Wirth, Joe Abrell, Ron Brunmeier, and Kit Wiegman (seated). Marlee Chamberlin missing.

Marilyn Yerkes and Janis McGregor should have been in the group photo!

Our founder, Kit Wiegman, talked about early days with Gwen in the background.

Our Communications Chair, Gwen Huff, scoured the archives for photos for two large masterful poster boards of memories over the years, which were on display last night. Gwen plans to bring them to future events for all members to see. A big job and kudos are in order… thank you, Gwen!

Gwen also commissioned the creation of a spectacular cake to commemorate the anniversary. The decorating included our club logo, which was created many  years ago by our artistically talented member, Robin Hart. She shared the identity of the kayaker in the logo as being her husband, Chuck!

Additional thanks are in order to Wendy Thibeault and Chuck Kastenholz who organized  the games. Thank you to all the club volunteers who made this picnic happen without a coordinator. It takes a village and SNCKC members always arise to the occasion!
