  • Thursday, February 22: Carl Shori, will share pictures and stories from his 18 years of volunteering with the Handicapped Scuba Association (HSA). Carl is a certified PADI Scuba Instructor and an HSA Instructor.

  • Thursday, April 27: Kayaking the Caribbeanpresentation by June Anderson. In February 2014, six club members flew to Belize and set off to paddle the warm waters of the Caribbean.
  • Thursday, March 23: Birds of Wetlands Habitats: Guest Speaker Rudy Darling, President Sierra Foothills Audubon Society. Understanding the bird life we encounter on SNCKC paddle trips, from osprey to herons, and ducks to grebes, plus many other bird species which occupy diverse wetlands and surrounding habitats.

  • Thursday, January 26: Seven Classic Paddle Camping Destinations in North America: Five members collaborated to introduce members to these unique and magnificent places to paddle, with fleeting references to trips we’ve done there.
  • Thursday, October 27: Sierra Streams Institute’s Helen Fitanides and South Yuba River Citizens League’s Kyle McNeil presented their water quality monitoring programs on the Yuba River, Bear River and Deer Creek.
  • Thursday, September 22: A video presentation by Gary Moon illustrating various kayak skills who picked some videos best suited to our members’ needs. The last video will be a scenic “dessert” showing kayakers exploring the beautiful Maine coast.
  • Thursday, August 25: Thomas Schuebel, certified Kayak Instructor and honorary SNCKC member, led us in assisted and self-rescue techniques demonstration and practice.
  • Thursday, July 28: Laurie Appling and Dennis Coulter presented a slide show to share their September 2021 16-day experience in the Grand Canyon of paddling, rafting, camping, and hiking their way down the Colorado River.
  • Thursday, June 23: Dick Penniman presented a slide show and narrative of his kayak trip in Freycinet National Park in Tasmania in 1997.
  • Thursday, May 26: Members enjoyed the SNCKC Annual Picnic BBQ Potluck, which was a wonderful evening of fun, food, and Pétanque.
  • Thursday, April 28: Gary Moon presented his kayaking experience at Voyageurs National Park in Minnesota last summer.
  • Thursday, March 24: Chris Crain’s program Kayaking Through the Ages presented an engaging history of kayaking, complete with historic reconstruction examples, linking past to present.
  • Thursday, October 28: British Pub Quiz Night with June Anderson. In most British pubs it’s a tradition to have a Quiz Night once a week. The first SNCKC quiz night was in 2013 and it was time for another fun evening of kayak-related trivia! Hope we don’t have to wait too long for the next one.
  • Thursday, September 23: All member program meeting at Seaman’s Lodge with pizza dinner followed by a presentation of three members’ kayaking vacation: Columbia River Kayaking Adventure at Skamokawa Resort, Washington.
  • Thursday, September 9: On the water clinic with Thomas Scheubel – forward stroke.
  • Thursday, July 22: A representative from Northern California’s largest (and likely oldest) kayak shop, California Canoe and Kayak presented information about kayak-related equipment of all sorts, including discussion of kayaks (materials, weights, lengths, paddling characteristics, etc.), paddles, and other items which make for good paddling.
  • June 24, 2021: Back at Seaman’s Lodge after well over a year! The presentation, Camp Cookin’, included a talk and demos around quick, easy, fun, and green ways to enjoy camping meals.
  • May 27, 2021: Our annual picnic was held at Gateway Park with the traditional Pétanque tournament and a fantastic potluck buffet.
  • March 25, 2021: The video Kayaking the 1000 Islands was interesting and entertaining! Via Zoom.
  • February 25, 2021: The slideshow consisted of photos taken by members on several houseboat/kayak trips at Lake Powell over the past 10 years. Via Zoom.
  • January 28, 2021: The presentation, Three Babes in Boats, consisted of a compilation of photos of kayak trips taken over the years by three of our long-time members. Via Zoom.
  • October 22, 2020: Since we weren’t able to get together for our annual rescue clinic, we watched self-rescue videos. Via Zoom.
